Simply DK is good yarn at a good price. It is warm without being heavy. The skeins I have used had no knots. I have made knitted pullovers with it. It is a bit thicker than some DK acrylic, so I went down on the needle size. I do recommend it as a good value. If you want wool in your yarn you will pay more, naturally.

Labels are sometimes stuck to the yarn and the glue won’t dissolve in water so you end up cutting the yarn part way into the skein. Also the ply unravels easily, splitting the yarn so watch carefully.

The average score is not a fair assessement for all the yarns I bought in the sale; the lilac/purple, green and aqua were very good. That real DK thickness which works up wonderfully. However, it has to be admitted that the white yarn (for some obscure reason) was thin and almost skimpy all the time, with very long lengths of weird winding, so that the effect was thin with tiny bobbles all along and amost uncomfortable to crochet. I was quite upset as the white was instrumental in the baby blanket I was making and the white hats, socks/booties and mittens I planned. I had to dump those plans because the white yarn was faulty and not good at all. Other than that, the other three yarns were very good indeed. A failure in Turkey, maybe – quality assurance not doing their job??? Very disappointing for the business, who work hard to offer good yarn. The factory needs a much better control of the process . However, it is still a pleasure to do business and especially at “deal” time. I bought loads! CAS

All paintbox yarns I purchased because they were a good sale price and nice range of colours. I knit toys etc, for my Great Grandchildren and also for my teacher daughter for use in class.
However they have turned out disappointing as the strands split when knitting.
Because the ‘red’ was out of stock, I chose Bonus Brand red. It is much better quality, no splitting and much softer feel.

Paintbox yarns are great quality, with huge batch numbers so you can purchase extra yarn if you bought too few in the first place (although I don’t advise it, just incase). I’ve now crochet two hexagon cardigans out of paintbox yarns, and have only found two knots, which is amazing compared to some brands.

The yarn does not frog very well when crocheting, I had issues with it snapping. Of course, this may be user error as I am a beginner. It crochets up relatively slowly as it’s DK, but overall it’s very pretty. It was easy to see my stitches, and there was minimal frizz. I do recommend this yarn.

I like this yarn. The color is pretty, and it’s a nice touch to pastel amigurumi. I only crocheted amigurumi with this yarn (chickens and chick), and I love how easy it is to work with. My hook never got tangled, only one knot got tangled, and it only snapped once (I got my magic circle twisted). I recommend this yarn, but I did get sick of the color after using it a few times.
